How to use the runSkyline.com gallery

Since runskyline.com first started over a year ago its most popular feature has been the Gallery. You can navigate there via the link on the top navigation bar, or by clicking on the random photo in the sidebar. Photographs are organized by albums and sub-albums; i.e., 2006 Track Season, followed by sub-albums for each meet.

One reason it has been so popular has been the Gallery’s interactive nature–it allows users to rank photographs and to post comments about them. The biggest difference between the new and the old Galleries (apart from the look and feel) is that users must login before posting comments about the photographs. The good news is that if you have registered on the main web page, you are already registered for the Gallery! Likewise, if you login on the main page, you will automatically be logged in to comment on the photographs.

To enter a comment about a photograph simply click on the “post comment” link on the sidebar to the left of the image and follow the instructions. No one is going to review the comments before they are posted, so have fun with them–but please don’t say anything mean about any people in the image (I reserve the right to edit the comments!)

The ranking system has also changed from the previous Gallery. Rather than voting on each photograph, you can rate them on a 1 to 5 scale. To rate a photo, simply click on the stars below the image. I have it set up for the photographs to be arranged first by the number of views (the small “thumbnail” image must be clicked for a view to be registered), and in the case of ties, by the star ranking. Check back often to see which photos are most popular! (If you prefer to have the photos arranged by star ranking first, please email me.)

Just a couple of other items…. I do plan on uploading the old Gallery photos as I get a chance. The hardest part will be recreating the Skyline Hair Club for Men and Maximal Effort Albums. Also, this Gallery isn’t only for my photographs! If anyone else takes pictures that the Skyline track community would have interest in (such as photos from track meets, bus trips, practices, dinners, parties, etc.), please let me know. I would love to set up you so you can upload your own albums. It’s really easy to do, trust me!
